Muhammad Faiz Ajum Piperdy is a senior paramedic with over 25 years of service in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering with Paramedicine from SUSS. He has led medical response efforts for major events and participated in international relief missions. His contributions to trauma care, mass casualty management, and EMS education has strengthened emergency preparedness and response capabilities. Recognized with awards such as the MHA Star Service Award and Healthcare Humanity Award, he remains committed to advancing SCDF’s operations and mentoring the next generation of emergency responders.

Desmond Goh is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the Emergency Medicine Department (EMD) at the National University Hospital (NUH). With 14 years of nursing experience, he has actively contributed to both departmental as well as hospital-wide nursing initiatives and projects. Desmond demonstrates a strong passion towards care transformation and advocates for the empowerment of nurses to assume greater roles in clinical care delivery. He also has a growing interest in nursing research.
Currently, Desmond is focused on integrating APNs as core members of the emergency observational medicine unit. With expertise in conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and developing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, he is deeply committed to providing holistic
patient care through health education and empowering patients and their families.

Dr Andrew LI Yunkai

Dr. Andrew Li Yunkai is a Senior Consultant at Woodlands Health Campus, specialising in Respiratory and Critical Care. He has been serving as Chief Respiratory Service in the Department of Medicine at Woodlands since 2020. In addition, Dr Andrew has been actively involved in the healthcare digital health initiatives since 2018, particularly in the roll-out and implementation of EPIC in NUHS and NHG. He currently serves as the deputy chief medical informatics officer at Woodlands as well as the NHG Cluster lead for the Analytics & Research Informatics Services (ARIS) group. His subspecialty interest resides in critical care medicine, interstitial lung disease and airway diseases. He is actively involved in medical research and clinical education, garnering multiple awards including the Special Recognition award in 2016 and 2019, the Resident Mentor Award in 2018 and the APSR / J Patrick Barron Medical Education Young Investigator Award in 2019.

Dr Shanaz is a dually accredited Emergency and Intensive Care physician practicing at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital ICU. He chairs the hospital’s life support committee and is actively involved in the crafting and governance of the hospital’s resuscitation protocols. He is also actively involved in education and is Director of the Simulation & Clinical Education Centre at NTFGH.

Dr Sim Hui Wen currently works at an interventional consultant cardiologist in National University Heart Centre and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Singapore. She currently serves as the director of the invasive cardiovascular lab. She is also the designated research director of Ng Teng Fong General Hospital’s Cardiology Division. She has received educational grants and is the PI & site PI of several multicentre clinical trials and registries. Dr Sim has a special interest in women’s heart disease and ischemia/angina in non-obstructive coronary artery disease.

Dr Kuan Win Sen is Senior Consultant and Research Director at the Emergency Medicine Department, National University Hospital. He is Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore; Research Officer at the NUHS Value Driven Office; and Council Member for the College of Emergency Physicians, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. His research interests are in sepsis, emergency critical care, MedTech and value-based healthcare. Dr Kuan has contributed 120 peer-reviewed publications and is a member of several steering committees locally and internationally. He regularly facilitates at evidence-based medicine workshops and advanced life support courses.

Dr Amanda Zain is the Deputy Director at the Centre for Sustainable Medicine and Assistant Dean of Sustainability at NUS Medicine. A paediatric consultant at the Children’s Emergency at National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore, Amanda obtained her MBBS and Master of Medicine (Paediatrics) at NUS and completed her paediatrics training at NUH. She is also a clinical tutor for medical and dental undergraduate and postgraduate students at NUS Medicine, teaching in general and emergency paediatrics, climate and health, and sustainable healthcare. She leads the Green QI module of the NUH Residency Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Distinction Programme (QIPS), and has been involved in various healthcare sustainability projects. She has a special interest in the implementation of sustainable inhaler prescribing.

Dr Wong has been practicing Emergency Medicine since entering it as a trainee in 1996. He did a stint in Paediatric Emergency Medicine in his early days of practice. He moved to Australia in 2005, for a less pressured learning environment for his then young daughters. He returned recently to the land of his birth, Singapore, to be part of the adventure of starting a new department that is Woodlands Health Emergency Department. That is where he presently practices.
Dr Wong is an obvious tennis enthusiast; And he literally almost died playing that game – That story he will be sharing.

Professor Yip is the Immediate-Past Educator Director and Senior Consultant at Yishun Health Campus, and Head, Oculoplastics Service, National Healthcare Group (NHG) Eye Institute.
He obtained a Master degree in Health Professional Education from Maastricht University in 2020 with Cum Laude designation. His accolades include the Dean’s award for Teaching Excellence (2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2024) and Special Recognition Award as a role model (2016, 2021) from National University of Singapore, NHG Education Award (2020) and Nanyang Technological University Honoured Faculty Award (2021).
He has an interest in cognition-enhanced learning such as mental rehearsal and cognitive load modulation to improve teaching and learning.

Adjunct Assistant Professor Wong Chen Seong is a Senior Consultant Infectious Diseases Physician at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is Director of the National HIV Programme, and the Head of the National HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections Division of the Interim Communicable Diseases Agency, Ministry of Health. He is actively involved in HIV clinical care and research, with interests in the socio-behavioural determinants of HIV/STI, HIV/STI prevention, HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), innovations in HIV service delivery such as telemedicine, as well as HIV and ageing and co-morbidity. Dr. Wong is also the lead clinician providing ID services to Singapore Prison Services.

Dr. Viegelmann is a Consultant in the Department of Paediatric Medicine at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH). She is currently the Director of the Complex Care and Homecare Service, where she cares for and treats children with medical complexity and multiple co-morbidities. She earned her BSc in Pharmacy from the University of the Philippines, after which she graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from Duke NUS Medical school. She obtained her specialist accreditation upon successful completion of her Paediatric Residency training in 2018, and became heavily involved in medical education. She started her nursing career by earning an Accelerated Diploma in Nursing from Nanyang Polytechnic, obtained her Advanced diploma in Emergency Nursing and completed her bachelor’s in nursing from La Trobe University in 2014.
With strong passion in Quality improvement and patient safety, she facilitates department Nursing Kaizens and 5S projects which are presented at both local and international conferences.
Recognized for her dedication, Ratna is appointed as a member of KTPH Patient Safety collaboration workgroup since 2020 and member of Kaizen Faculty in 2024.

Mr Darrell QUEK

Darrell Quek is an accredited mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI Accredited Mediator Level 3) and an Associate Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre (“SMC”). He has experience mediating matters at the State Courts Small Claims Tribunal, the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management and various schemes administered by SMC. Darrell is presently with MOH Holdings Healthcare Mediation Unit as Head, Healthcare Mediation Unit, where he promotes the use of mediation to resolve disputes between patients and healthcare institutions. He offers independent support and advice to help patients, their families, and healthcare professionals resolve disagreements about medical care. Dr Joy QUAH Li Juan

Dr Joy Quah is an emergency medicine consultant at Singapore General Hospital. Her subspeciality is in disaster and humanitarian medicine, and she obtained a Master of Science in Disaster Medicine from CRIMEDIM in 2021. Her other interest is in innovation and technology in healthcare. She has participated in emergency department projects, such as designing a self-assist triage machine, implementing a telehealth consultation service, using computational modelling for rostering as well as casualty regulation using AI in mass casualty disaster scenarios. The CAPE project is a venture into using AI to enhance clinical decision making in the ED.

Dr NORHISHAM bin Main

Dr Norhisham bin Main is the Cluster Clinical Lead, Supportive and Palliative Care, at National University Health System; and Head of Division and Senior Consultant at the Division of Supportive Care and Palliative Medicine, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He serves as the current chairman of the Chapter of Palliative Medicine of the College of Physicians at the Academy of Medicine Singapore. Dr Norhisham is also President of the Muslim Healthcare Professionals Association, dedicated to building a network of healthcare professionals who practice medicine guided by Islamic principles. Dr Norhisham has supported the Singapore Hospice Council as a council member from 2016 to 2022 and continues to offer his time and expertise as a valued consultant to the organisation. With more than 10 years of experience in the palliative care field, Dr Norhisham has intimate knowledge of the growth of palliative care in Singapore.

Dr NG Wei Xiang

Dr Ng Wei Xiang graduated from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2010. He obtained his Masters Of Medicine (Emergency Medicine) in 2015 and was accredited as a specialist in Emergency Medicine in 2017. Dr Ng currently practices in the Emergency Department of Tan Tock Seng Hospital as a Senior Consultant Emergency Physician and is the Programme Director for NHG Emergency Medicine Residency. He has a special interest in Emergency Critical Care and believes in pushing the boundaries of the care of the critically ill and injured who present to the ED.

Clin Asst Prof Louis NG

Clinical Assistant Professor (Duke-NUS) Louis Ng is a consultant anaesthetist and intensivist from Singapore. He obtained his Masters in Anesthesiology (Singapore) in 2012 and is a fellow with the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia (ANZCA) since 2017. He is the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and leads the Special Blood Services (SBS) in Changi General Hospital Operating Theatre. He also chairs the hospital’s Blood Transfusion Committee and rolled out the hybrid massive transfusion protocol after successfully introducing Viscoelastic-Haemostatic Assay (VHA) guided hemostatic resuscitation to the hospital. He has also recently taken on the role as the Lead for Trauma Task Force in his current hospital to enhance Trauma care in South-Eastern Trauma Cluster. His clinical interests include trauma, emergency preparedness, peri-operative blood management, ECMO, liver failure, complex and chronic ventilation. He is the clinical lead for in-situ high stakes and high-fidelity simulation program in SICU.

Dr Raj MENON

Dr Raj Menon is currently the Head of the Trauma Service in NUH, and the Centre Director for the National University Centre for Trauma.
He also serves as the Associate Chair, Medical Board for NUH and is the Director of Clinical Services for the Department of Surgery and the Surgical High Dependency Unit.
A Trauma and Vascular Surgeon, Dr Menon completed his undergraduate training at the National University of Singapore and embarked on specialist training in General Surgery with the Department of Surgery, NUH. He completed his fellowship exams with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and further trained in Trauma and Vascular Surgery.
He is currently also the Director of the National Trauma Unit with the Ministry of Health and has been appointed as the President of the Asian Collaboration of Trauma, an international society of Asia’s various trauma societies for 2025/2026.

Assistant Professor Ian Mathews is an Emergency Medicine Physician at the National University Health System (NUHS) and the co-chair of the Kent Ridge Office of Innovation (KROI), where he leads healthcare innovation initiatives, driving projects that integrate advanced technologies and digital health solutions to improve patient care and medical research.
His entrepreneurial journey began after completing the Singapore-Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship in 2017, and now advises various startups in the medical innovation space.
Ian holds a Master’s degree in Emergency Medicine and an MBBS from the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he continues to contribute to medical education and digital health innovation.
With an avid interest in Global Health, Ian firmly believes that technological solutions can provide access and help reduce inequity in global healthcare delivery.

Nicolas Lim is an Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine consultant working out of Woodlands Health in Singapore. He completed training in the Republic of Ireland and worked as an Intensive Care Medicine consultant in University College Hospital Galway before coming back to Singapore in 2022. He has completed fellowships in Point of care ultrasound, resuscitation and Intensive Care Medicine. He teaches and lectures on ultrasound internationally and is particularly interested in remote instruction, curriculum development and faculty development. In his spare time, he travels around the world to fish in the most exotic destinations.

As an Advanced Practice Nurse, Jasmine has actively contributed to the improvement of clinical protocols and patient outcomes, especially in the management of sepsis—a leading cause of mortality in the critically ill.
Her work focuses on optimising care delivery and enhancing patient safety through evidence-based practices and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dr Li Jiahui is head and senior consultant of the paediatric infectious disease service in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore. In her talk, she will explore various trends in antibiotic prescription in the paediatric emergency room, briefly touch on point of care tests that have helped guide management and antibiotic prescription in recent years, and lastly, updates on paediatric sepsis as well as the changing landscape of respiratory pathogens post-COVID-19.

Dr Leung Sai Choi, Patrick graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1997. He obtained his Fellowship of the Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine (HKCEM) in 2005. He has special interest in Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) and got his Master degree of Clinical Gerontology of Chinese University in Hong Kong in 2020. He is the Chairman of the subcommittee of GEM of the Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine since 2018 and joined the Special Interest Group of International federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM) since 2019. Dr Leung is now the Consultant of the Accident and Emergency Department in Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Hong Kong and is a part time lecturer of the Accident and Emergency Academic Unit of CUHK.

Dr Jean Lee is a Senior Consultant Emergency Physician at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH). She is passionate in initiatives focused on empowering the elderly with their health management and overall wellbeing.
As Director of the new Department of Transitional Care and Community Medicine at Sengkang General Hospital, she is responsible for overseeing the development and progression of Transitional care and Community Medicine programs to right site health services and focus on upstream preventive measures to bring about optimal social and physical health management of patients in the community.
She believes firmly in addressing the social determinants of health by connecting social care services to the patient care journey and forming the requisite partnerships.
She has won and led Agency of Integrated Care and Singhealth’s Population health Development Funded Nursing Home projects and has done stellar work with the Nursing Homes (NH) in the northeastern region of Singapore.

Dr Ranjeev KUMAR

Dr Ranjeev Kumar works as Senior Consultant in the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital Emergency Department, where he serves as the clinical lead for Geriatric and Palliative Emergency Medicine. He completed his fellowship in GeriEM at the University of Toronto in 2023 and is currently Vice Chair of the Section of Geriatric EM, College of Emergency Physicians. In addition, he is the ED lead for KTPH@Home, an initiative to manage patients in the comfort of their homes. He will share with us his insights on this program today.

Dr Kelvin Kuan is a Senior Consultant with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Changi General Hospital (CGH) and clinical assistant professor with the Duke-NUS medical school. Dr Kuan completed his specialist training in 2015 and trained as a clinical toxicologist with Austin Health and the Victorian Poisons Information Centre. He is a clinical toxicologist with the Singhealth Toxicology Service, providing expert consultation and advice for acute poisonings.

Dr Stephanie Ko is a Consultant in Advanced Internal Medicine at the National University Hospital and at NUHS@Home, the hospital-at-home program in NUHS. She pursued her Masters of Public Health degree in the prestigious Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health in 2017. Her areas of clinical and research interest include the development and evaluation of new care delivery models, including hospital-at-home models and telehealth enabled programmes. She is one of the founders of NUHS@Home in 2020, and is currently the Lead of NUHS@Home as it scales up over the next few years. She is also an affiliate at the Behavioral and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI), National University of Singapore as her work has been primarily exploring alternatives to existing healthcare models, and straddles both implementation and the evaluation of the implementation of these care models.

Dr Kenneth Heng is a senior consultant at the Emergency Department, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was the Life Support Chairman of the hospital. He has had training stints in the Medical College of Wisconsin, USA and The Alfred, Melbourne. As part of education work, he has a Masters in Health Professions Education. His extracurricular interests include tennis, sprinting and, lately, the more sedate pickleball.

Dr Shahridan bin Mohd Fathil obtained his MBBS from the University of Malaya in 1996. He underwent anaesthesia training initially in Malaysia, and then Ireland and England. He was appointed as a consultant and later senior consultant with Alexandria Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Singapore for nearly six years until April 2017. Dr Hope Ang is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist in Tan Tock Seng Hospital and is Head of the Acute Pain Service. He has special interests in Regional Anaesthesia as well as Chronic Pain management. Dr Ang is a member of the Regional Anaesthesia Mobile Block (RAMBO) Service in TTSH, performing nerve blocks to manage acute pain, as well as to facilitate surgery in the perioperative setting. Dr Ang believes timely and appropriate pain relief for patients in the acute care setting is important to improve the quality of clinical care.
